The game's afoot!

Squealing with delight,
Unearthing the new joy
It was pleasing to the eye.
She held it up to the light
and scrutinised it with intensity.
She picked it up to smell
and touch the new corners
her fingers had never felt before

This was something special,
She felt that it had to be
Disappointment had already
crushed their vines,
around her heart,
hardened it like a rock.

As before, time passes
Flaws revealed
Cracks become gulfs
Feelings dissipate

The new toy is discarded
To the bottom.

(yes, it's mine)
